Bodmin Community Award Scheme
As part of the Bodmin Community Award Scheme, people living locally are invited to nominate anyone in the community who they feel deserves special recognition. The aim of this scheme is to recognise and celebrate volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to Bodmin and its residents. This might include volunteers who have given their time for a cause or for others in our society or someone who is helping an organisation to develop or thrive.
The winners of the inaugural award were Mike & Carol Grigg (above) who have made an outstanding contribution in terms of commitment and dedication to the local community through their tireless voluntary work and support provided to the 1st Castle Canyke Scout Group, Bodmin. The couple provided constant and dedicated service, retiring from the Group at the end of 2017 after almost 30 years. In May 2019, the outgoing Mayor, Councillor Sara Kinsman, was delighted to present the 2019 Community Volunteer Award to Mr Keith Chapman for his significant contribution to the Bodmin Christmas Lights Committee and the Alstock Music event.
The Council recognises that without the tireless efforts of community champions such as Keith, Mike and Carol, many organisations could not continue to exist or thrive. It is therefore extremely important to congratulate and thank our volunteers for their dedication and commitment.
If you would like to find out more about the Community Volunteer Award or submit a nomination, please contact Councillor Karen Phillips by email or download a nomination form from the ‘Useful Documents’ area on the right of this page. Nominations for the next award should be submitted no later than 31 January 2020.
